Benton Hot Springs turned out to be one of those quirky little surprises you stumble across while traveling the country. The town itself is small, but it’s surrounded by beautiful mountain views that give it a peaceful, tucked-away feel. What really caught us off guard was the Inn at Benton Hot Springs. Not only do the rooms come with their own private hot spring tubs, but even the campsites each have their own tub—it felt like such a unique and unexpected luxury in such a quiet spot.

As we wandered around, we noticed antiques scattered throughout the town, giving it a kind of rustic charm. One of my favorite moments was chatting with a local who was in the middle of restoring an old VW Bus—he had some great stories and a lot of passion for his project. We also discovered an Indian-owned service station that had a little restaurant inside. The food was surprisingly good and added to the sense that Benton is full of hidden gems you wouldn’t expect until you spend some time there.
