Chloride Arizona is what they call a living ghost town. In it's mining heyday it had as many as 5,000 inhabitants and at one time was the county seat. In 1917 the population had fallen to 2,000 and by 1944 it was considered a ghost town. In 2000 the population was about 350 and it is considered the oldest continuously inhabited mining town in the state. It has become a bit of an artist colony and driving around town you will see a lot of yard art.

We have visited this town many times and spent the night at Shep's Miners Inn twice. Once we spent New Years Eve there. They had a wonderful 5 course meal and provided entertainment from the big town, Kingman. The people we have met in town were always very nice and friendly. The food at Yesterdays was very good when we ate there but it is under new owners and we have not tried it since it changed hands. But I'm sure it is probably still good. See a video on Chloride and Kingman AZ here.
