We stayed at the Shallow Bay Motel in the town of Cows Head, which has a population of just under 500 people. The picture to the left is Sally's Cove and is nothing more then a few fishing shacks and ha a population of 20. The lighthouse is the Cows Head Lighthouse where Parks Canada Guides put on a little show for us while telling us history of the area. They also served us tea and lingonberry biscuits. We would be eating a lot of ligonberries over the next two weeks.

It was rainy, very overcast and foggy, a common theme the first few days in Newfoundland Labrador. Next we went to the Bonne Bay Marine Station, which has an aquarium. That was followed by a wonderful lunch of a ham sandwich, Caesar salad, & rhubarb, apple & partridgeberry tart at Neddies Harbour Inn. After lunch we had a 2-1/2 hour boat ride exploring Bonne Bay. We did see a bald Eagle nest and one flying around, but it was so foggy I didn’t take any photos. As the boat tour was ending the rain finally let up—it didn’t stop, but it let up.
