Point San Luis Light Station

Flickr is now limiting the number of photos I can have so these will age out in a year or so.

The light station is just past the town of Avila Beach. There are only two ways to tour the light station. One is by trolley and the second way is by kayaking over to the beach. The term light station encompasses all the buildings and light house is used if there is only a single structure, a light house. The trolley takes a very steep circuitous curvy  route and I have to admit it made me a bit nervous because the trolley was almost too big to make some of the curves. They did a nice job on the tour and we learned a lot that we had never heard before like the story of the library. It seems once a month, when the ship would come to restock the light station, they brought a wooden box of books. This was a welcome item for the kids and the adults.

The town of Avila was very nice and very colorful. The beach was also very nice and not at all crowded when we were there. I suspect during summer months it is very crowded.
