After riding the Ferry from Labrador to Newfoundland we went to St. Anthony (Pop 2,260). Our hotel had a restaurant so we just ate there the first night then went out for a walk. Our tour director did not realize when she said the coach had a mascot and that you could take her and take photos was Karen & I had been doing this for years with our different mascots. So while in St. Anthony somehow we picked up our own Puffin who became named Screech because he had an affinity for the Newfoundland Screech Rum.  Hmm Screech was a male and AC Puffin was female. They got a little crazy one night in our room.

One day we went over to see the Fox Point Light Station. If the only building is a Lighthouse it is called that, but if there are ancillary buildings, it is called a Light Station. The next day we were going to be leaving St. Anthony, but not without a stop at the Grenfell Interpretation Center. Sir Wilfred Grenfell was sent to Newfoundland by the Royal National Mission to Deep Sea Fisherman to improve the lives of fishermen and coastal inhabitants. He ended up starting hospitals and bringing medicine to the coast of Labrador and Northern Newfoundland. The stories of what he did are legendary in the area. He not only practiced medicine, he built hospitals, started schools and orphanages.
