On this  day we would drive to Waterbury Vermont to board the Amtrak Vermonter train to Brattleboro Vermont. The Amtrak Vermonter offers service between St. Albans City and Brattleboro VT. Waterbury is home to Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream and also the Kurig plant is across the street from the train station. We again had a train car for only our group and a guide was on board to provide commentary on why leaves turn colors and the scenery we were seeing and how great Vermont is and how much our climate is affected and how the world is going to change. He was just a bit opinionated to put it mildly. The scenery was beautiful and the fall colors were very nice. The windows were heavily tinted which made it hard to get photos that looked natural so I ended up taking very few pictures and just relaxed enjoying the scenery. The train was very comfortable and we enjoyed a very good boxed lunch that was picked up for us in Waterbury.

We exited the train in Brattleboro Vermont and boarded the bus bound for Mystic Seaport and then spent the night in Groton MA. Mystic Seaport bills itself as the largest maritime museum in the United States and who am I to argue that. <grin> From Wikipedia "The museum was established in 1929 as the "Marine Historical Association". Its fame came with the acquisition of the Charles W. Morgan in 1941, the only surviving wooden sailing whaler. The Seaport was one of the first living history museums in the United States, with a collection of buildings and craftsmen to show how people lived; it now receives about 250,000 visitors each year."
