The biggest reason for going to Iceland was to see and photograph the Northern Lights ( Aurora borealis in the northern hemisphere). I booked our tour with Gate1 called Northern Lights Pursuit. Each night you would go out hunting for the lights until you got to see them. The most important thing for me is I can now say "I saw the light!'.

We finally got to see them on the third night. The camera sees more then your eye because the exposure used was seconds long. I started with manual focus and set it on infinity. Then set the temperature of light to 4,000 K. I used aperture priority and set the aperture and let the camera decide how long the exposure would be. I made a few changes to the aperture based on what I saw after each photo. The results were pretty good.
