Live on Green

The Rose Bowl and Parade are BIG business for the city of Pasadena. This year for the first time they held a new event called Live on Green. I decided to take the day off and go see what it was all about. They had bands outside the convention center playing all day. The National Park Service is celebrating it's 100 year anniversary in 2016 and they had a huge area and presence at the event. They had a lot of displays on the different parks, a climbing wall, a kayak display where you sat in a kayak watching a big display of kayaking the LA river.

They had a small parade float that was only half decorated and half open so you could see inside a float and what it looks like. The driver of the float can't really see where they are going they follow a line painted down the middle of the parade route. On Colorado Blvd at 11 in the morning on New Years eve the cars have already started cruising the route. I had to take this one because of the juxtaposition of the old and new vehicles. There are a lot of ways to enjoy and explore the big event. You can go to a battle of the bands where all the marching bands perform, or go see the equestrian events or go see floats being decorated. Pasadena really becomes alive the week before New Yeas day.
