Wendy Park is located on Whiskey Island which is so named because a distillery was built there in the 1830s. Wendy Park is the only park in Cleveland that gives access to both the river and Lake Erie. It was purchased in 2004 and opened in 2005. Wendy Park is named for Wendy Moore, a native Clevelander who was captivated by the rugged beauty of Whiskey Island's shoreline.

The park offers great views of downtown Cleveland but the one thing I wanted to see was the old Coast Guard Station. You could never get close to it in the past and I had no idea it was built to look like a ship. Their plan is to restore the old building and I suspect it will be pretty cool to see it when completed. Guess that will be another trip back home.

There is also the Whiskey Island Marina. The Marina holds over 200 boats and is protected by the break wall. Wendy Park also has sand volleyball courts along the water front.
