When they put in a new housing development behind our house part of the
project was to include a new Fire Station. Once a year they have an open house
and we were finally around when they held it so I wanted to go see all of the
BIG equipment I have seen there. The city of Upland has 5 fire stations and
some pretty big league equipment. |

I asked why we had this large hook and ladder truck because we don't have
any high rise buildings and was told it was needed for the San Antonio
Hospital which is 4 or 5 stories. They also told me it made the cities fire
rating better and thereby lowered my fire insurance. Umm OK, so I asked
about the need for the Helicopter which they called the critical care air
ambulance. I was told the city doesn't own it but contracts for the service.
This air ambulance is staffed with a pilot, Registered Critical Care Flight
Nurse and Critical Care Flight Paramedic. For a city of 70,000 we sure have
some big high dollar equipment and some of it is close to the house. OK I
guess there are worse ways to spend out tax dollars. |
