Every other year we go with friends to the Morongo Basin Highway 62 Art Tours. They have
over 200 participating artists each year. One weekend they do the east end and
the next weekend the west end. We have found some great places to stay the
weekend and some great places to eat. There is an operating drive in theater
in 29 Palms to help complete the weekend. They have been doing this for over
10 years now and each year they seem to add a few things such as music at
  night. |

The artists who participate cover a wide array of art. From the assemblage
art of Noah Purifoy to more traditional oil paintings. The studio to the
left was the most organized and cataloged art studio I have ever seen. Just
as neat, clean and organized as it could be. It was more like the sop
belonged to an engineer then an artist. |

The picture to the left is inside one of the artists studios who does
ceramic tile art. Everything in the house is painted including the toilet.
Looking at the pictures below give you an idea of the views from some of
the artist studios and maybe the source of some of their inspiration. The
open studios go from Yucca Valley on the west to Wonder Valley on the east
end. The further out the studio is on the dirt roads the more interesting
      they tend to be. |
