The Walt Disney Concert Hall is located in downtown Los Angeles. I had been wanting to see it since it opened in 2003 but it always seemed when we were going by there was never enough time to stop. Hey, it only took me 9 years to get down and see it <grin>. It happed to be a Sunday so parking in the street was free and it was not crowded.

The building is a Frank Gerhy design and the interior music hall acoustics are by Yasuhisa Toyota. Walt's wife, Lillian, provided an initial gift as a tribute to Walt in 1987 and then another donation of 50 million in 1992 to get the project launched. The underground parking garage was started first.

When the building was completed modifications had to be made to the Founders Room exterior. Most of the building is stainless steel with a matte finish but the Founders Room exterior had highly polished panels. Reflections from this area caused heat in nearby condominiums and they had to dull some of the panels to eliminate the glare they caused. Just walking around the building in some areas I could feel heat from the sun reflecting off the building.
