Stagecoach Inn & Museum

The original Stagecoach Inn, called the Grand Union Hotel, was built in 1876 at the southwest corner of what is now Ventu Park Road and the Ventura Freeway. It was built of Northern California Redwood for a cost of about $7,000. Stage Coaches would stop on their way towards Santa Barbara. Today the grounds are a museum. In April of 1970 a fire destroyed the museum and much of the contents.

It was rebuilt and opened on July 4th, 1976. It is filled with antique furniture, toys, memorabilia and a wonderful collection of old music machines in the music room. They do docent led tours of the Inn.

There is a carriage house and a blacksmiths shop on the property along with a rose garden and a school house called the Timber School. It was used for many tings besides a school it was also used for Church services, celebrations and school picnics.
