Winter Storm in the San Gabriel Mountains

The mountains by us can be very pretty when they have a layer of snow. It usually motivates me to go out and take pictures. This is from the back yard. I took photos of the snow and mountains in the middle of the day, at sunrise, at sunset and a few hours after the sun went down.

This pictures if from the front yard. The mountain range is the San Gabriel's. The area in the pictures is in the San Bernardino National Forest. Just to the left of the peak starts the Angeles National Forest.

I even tried night photography. We went up to an area named Cow Saddle. It was about 28 degrees out. The picture to the left was a 5 minute exposure. What surprised me was that in only 5 minutes you could see star movement. In a photo taken looking north the star movement will be circular. In the last two one is just before sunrise and the other is just minutes afterwards.
