We took a trip to Europe in 2008 and stayed with our friends Daniel and Natascha
in Germany and we also visited with our friend Conny in Switzerland. One of the
first places we went was Potsdam just outside of Berlin. It is the capitol
city of  the state of  Brandenburg. I am sure I will make statements
that may not be 100% correct but they are as I remember them. Potsdam is made
up of a number of different areas and we visited it a couple times while in
  Germany. |

This part of the city had small cobblestone streets and was along the water.
After we parked the car and wandered around for a while when it was time to
leave I told Daniel I was going to walk over to get pictures of the windmill
and would meet them over by that. I think this was the first of a few times
when our friends realized this was all new to us and I wanted to wander
around and take photographs. Karen soon told them just sit down and relax,
no need to wander off with me. I will take my pictures then come back. |

The landscape of Potsdam is made up of a Russian area, a Dutch area, a
Bohemian area and a French area. In pages to follow I will also post
pictures of the Sans Souci  palace and park. The Dutch area pictured
below was on a different day as you can see it is cloudy. The area in the
other pictures was a very quaint area to go walking and had some wonderful
shops and restaurants along the water. Having our own personal guides was
wonderful as they did the driving so we could enjoy everything and Daniel
did all the translating. Not to mention the fact that his wife Natascha
      was a wonderful cook. |
