Guasti Village

The area between Ontario Airport and the 10 freeway was home to Guasti Village. The picture to the left is one of the old company houses where workers from the Guasti Winery lived. This area contains many historic structures and is in the process of being redeveloped. It is being called the Ontario Airport Towers Project.

It seems the developer hired some over zealous security folks that followed me around giving me a hard time about taking pictures. So I took my pictures from the street. The first phases of the redevelopment project are going to include two 6 story and one 5 story office buildings totaling almost 1/2 million sq. ft of office space and a hotel. I wanted to get some pictures of the area and later I will get some after pictures to see what they did with this historic area.

The building below was the local post office in one of the old stone packing houses. I do hope they keep some of the historic buildings. There were a couple of businesses that thrived in the buildings, mostly restaurants. They are now located in nearby cities. In the picture on the lower left you can see one of the office buildings going up. It would be a real sham and a loss for Ontario if all of the old buildings are torn own.
