Dead Horse Point Utah State Park

This is one very unusual name for a park. In the late 1800's cowboys would herd wild horse out to the top of the mesa which had a very narrow neck to get out to the point. There they would fence it off and break the wild horses. Legend has it that one time they left behind the horse they didn't want to keep and left the gate open but the horse wouldn't go through the gate so they died out on the point.

From the main overlook you have  a great view of what the Colorado river has done through erosion.

It has taken 150 million years for the erosion to happen on this grand scale.
