TUBA CHRISTMAS was conceived in 1974 as a tribute to the late artist/teacher William J. Bell, born on Christmas Day, 1902. If you want to read the history click this link. You can also locate one near you. We first heard about it on TV from a program by Huell Howser. In fact a lot of our adventures have originated from ideas from his shows.

This time however a friend we met through the Fire Tower program, Kenny, sent me the information on this show. He is in the very middle of this picture with the red ball cap.

There we people here like little Nathan who was 9 years old to people in their 80's. We went to the rehearsal, had a quick dinner then went to the show. It was truly an enjoyable event highly recommended. For us it was very interesting to go to the rehearsal. You got to hear how it was put together.

When an area was having difficulty the conductor would have them play their part. It made it much easier for us later to pick out and hear all the different individual parts.

The conductor said the stage crew put out 250 chairs and they still had people standing so there were more then 250 players.

This is the Alex Theater in Glendale where they played. Thanks for the tip on this Kenny and I'm sure we'll be back next year.
