Jackson Lake

It was going to be another very hot day at the house so we decided to go into the mountains to play. This is an area called Mormon Rocks in the Cajon Pass. One of these days we are going to have to explore these rock formations but not today.

First we stopped at Jackson Lake for a picnic. There were a number of people here enjoying the lake for fishing and swimming.

Ahh this end of the lake is pretty quiet.

Oh, a dirt road I wonder where it goes. <grin> This road actually went back into the mountains behind Wrightwood for 12 miles to two different campgrounds. In some areas the road goes along a pretty narrow ridge with drop offs on both sides.

Near the end of the dirt road we had this great view of the backside of Mr. Baldy (Mt. San Antonio). Our house is on the other side. Our GPS said we were at about 8,500 ft here. The temperature was cool in the upper 60's low 70's. With the building of the thunderhead clouds I hoped to see some lightening but no such luck today.
