Well, wifey was out of town and it was a great, late spring day. I can't think  of a more enjoyable way to spend the day then driving the mountain roads. This is Shoemaker Canyon Road looking down at East Fork Road. The river is the East Fork of the San Gabriel River. This web page talks about a hike at the end of Shoemaker Canyon Road. It also states that this road to nowhere was built as a way to escape Los Angeles in case of nuclear attack. We are going to have to hike it one of these days.

The picture and the next one are taken down below on forest road Nf-8w16. Just about another half mile from this bridge the road ends at Coyote Flats Parking area. From this parking lot people hike to the Bridge to Nowhere. This link has information on this hike.

There were a fair number of people fishing in this stream. But as usual I don't take many pictures of people.

These next two pictures are of other people enjoying the wonderful spring day playing their way. In the mud and water.

Here they drive up the hill as far as they can go then back down. This is the San Gabriel Canyon Off Highway Vehicle Area. It looks like fun but it is always very crowded and the line to get in is long so I have never taken our bikes there.
