We left on a Friday and spent the weekend in the Morongo Basin at the Pioneertown Motel. We took our dual sport bikes in the back of the truck and spent Saturday riding in Joshua Tree National Park. This picture shows the bikes in front of our room.

Pionnertown is an old movie set built in the mid to late 1940's. One of the main investors was Roy Rogers. This building is a church and they really hold Sunday services here.  While we were at the motel a couple was getting married on horseback at the motel.

The place is great for hiking or horseback riding. There are also plenty of places to go dirt bike riding.

This is Pappy and Harriet's Pioneertown Palace. We had reservations for dinner both Friday and Saturday. The entertainment was great and the food was good. We really enjoyed this place. We liked it so much we plan on going back again. The motel was about 100 yards away so after having a few glasses of ice tea I didn't have to worry about driving home, we just walked.

Also while we were in the area they had art studios open. After we got tired of riding we got in the truck and visited a few of them before it was over. This is one of the artists studio and house. It is an old street car. The art studios were really fun, interesting and educational. We plan to go back next year and spend the day visiting as many of them as we can.
