The Mountains,
a Sunset

While trying to decide what pictures to post next I came across these photos. In the winter, during a storm the mountains are always shrouded in clouds. But a day or two after, when the clouds move out, we can get some breathtaking views. When driving home from work we were treated with the mountains just starting to peak out of the clouds and glowing in sunshine on the fresh, bright white snow. So, I went home, grabbed my camera and headed up the mountain towards Baldy Village. But as I drove up I wasn't seeing the views I hoped to catch.

Finally, disappointed I started back down. Well, I was treated to fabulous views of the valley instead.<grin> As the sun was setting the colors on the clouds got more vibrant. The lake shown below really isn't a lake. It is the Mt. San Antonio Dam. This is the first time in the 4 years I have lived here that there has been water behind the dam. All of out winter rain storms have provided us with much needed water but many other things such as an abundance of wild flowers in the desert and the wonderful views of the mountains covered in snow.
