Santa Anita Race Track

Outside Santa Anita Park race track. Home of Seabiscuit. The track was opened in 1934 and is built on 320 acres.

In the morning from 5 to 9:30 they have a morning workout for the horses. They have tram tours during racing season but I happened to be there on opening day. The tours started the next day.

You can go to the west end of the track to a place called Clockers Corner and have breakfast while watching the horses work out.

It is a really beautiful park. The scenery is very pretty and it looks like it is the park then the mountains. But on the other side of the trees is the 210 freeway. On the other side of the freeway are homes.

People start arriving early, staking out their spot for the day and looking over the handicap papers to plot their winning strategy.
