La Mesilla New Mexico was originally part of Mexico. The Gadsen purchase in
1854 moved the border between the USA and Mexico and it became part of
the United States. It is a mile or so outside of Las Cruces.

This is San Albino Church on the square. It was originally built of adobe
in 1855. Services are still held their in both English and Spanish.

Some of the shops on the square. The historic downtown is now mostly shops and
restaurants.
