A 3 day weekend and what to do... ROAD TRIP !!!
Karen was back in Ohio visiting so I took off on my bike and did 3 days of riding up to and around the Lake Tahoe area. On the ride up and back I took route 395 past the eastern side of the Sierra's. This side can be very rugged and dry.

The farther north you go  the scenery changes and you pass some alpine meadows. Tahoe is a natural lake surrounded by mountains.

The lake is at an elevations of 6200 ft and it's average depth is 989 feet. Average snowfall is 18 feet. Lake Tahoe is the second deepest lake in the United States and 10th deepest in the world. There are 6 routes over the mountains into Lake Tahoe and I rode all 6 routes.

This is emerald bay on the south west portion of the lake. It becomes very difficult to choose only 5 or 6 photos of an area like this as I have about 100. On the ride over the mountains the first day I just escaped a thunderstorm. Once I got over the mountains it was dry.

This photo is taken along the north east shore coming down from Mount Rose. There are casinos along the lake on the Nevada side. The eastern shore is in Nevada and the western shore in California. There are some of the best mountain roads in the area that I have ever ridden on and I know I will have to go again. I put 1235 miles in the saddle in 3 days.
